Lesson 2 – Create or Import a Google Sheet
Import the Google sheet.
Here are simple step-by-step instructions for creating a new Google Sheet:
- Go to sheets.google.com in your web browser (you must be signed in with your Google account).
- Click the multi-colored “+” button or select “Blank spreadsheet” to create a new blank spreadsheet.
- The new spreadsheet will open. Click on “Untitled spreadsheet” in the top left to give your spreadsheet a name.
- You can now start adding data to the cells in the spreadsheet and use formulas and functions as needed.
Alternatively, I have prepared a Google Sheet template for you. Click the link below to access it:
Once you open the template, follow these steps to make a copy of it to use yourself:
- Click the “File” menu at the top.
- Select “Make a copy” from the File menu
- Enter a name for your copy of the spreadsheet
- Choose the folder where you want to save the copy (default is your main Google Drive folder)
- Click “OK”. A copy of the spreadsheet will be created and opened
- You can now edit and use this copy of the spreadsheet without affecting the original template
Important: When you first open the copy, click the “Share” button and make sure the access permissions are set to “Restricted” so that only you can edit your copy of the spreadsheet. The original template may have different sharing settings.
Let me know if you have any other questions! The Google Sheet template I provided will help you get started quickly.
