These terms are the agreement between you and us for the use of Bones — Blog Composer (“Bones”, “the extension”). By installing Bones, starting the
free trial, or buying a licence, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Bones.
We have kept these terms plain. Where something matters to your money or your rights, we have tried to say it clearly rather than bury it.
- WHAT BONES IS
Bones is a Chrome extension that adds a visual, block-based composer to the Shopify blog post editor. You build a post out of blocks and Bones writes it, as ordinary HTML, into Shopify’s normal editor. You then save the post in Shopify the way you always would.
Bones does not install anything on your store, does not use the Shopify API, and does not write your posts for you — there is no AI and no generated text. You write the words; Bones lays them out. Bones runs only on your own Shopify blog post admin pages and nowhere else.
- THE FREE TRIAL
Bones is free to use for 7 days from the time you first run it, with no card and no sign-up required. When the trial ends, you need a paid licence to keep using it. The trial is provided as-is and may be changed or withdrawn for future users, but we will not shorten a trial already running on your browser.
- LICENCES AND PLANS
To use Bones after the trial you buy a licence. There are three plans, all
priced in US dollars:
- Monthly — $9 per month, renewing each month until cancelled.
- Annual — $49 per year, renewing each year until cancelled.
- Lifetime — $89 once, for a perpetual licence to the extension.
A licence is a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Bones for your own Shopify store or stores. One licence may be activated on up to
three browsers at a time. A browser that has not been seen for 30 days releases its place, so that a replaced or reset browser frees up automatically.
You may not resell, sublicense, rent out or share your licence key, or try to use one licence beyond its three-browser limit, or work around the licensing in any way. “Lifetime” means for as long as we offer and support the extension; it is not a promise that the product will exist forever, and it does not entitle you to unrelated future products.
- PAYMENT, TAX AND RENEWALS
Payments are handled by Paddle (paddle.com), which acts as our merchant of record and the seller of record for your purchase. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms and privacy policy. Paddle collects your payment, calculates and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST, and emails you a receipt with your licence key.
Monthly and annual plans renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time — see section 6. Prices may change, but a change will only affect you from your next renewal, and never retroactively.
- REFUNDS
We offer a full, no-questions-asked refund within 30 days of a purchase or renewal, on any plan. Our full refund policy — how to request one, how it is processed, and what happens to your licence afterwards — is set out on our Refund Policy page. In short: a refund ends the licence it paid for, and Bones stops running once the refund is made.
- CANCELLATION AND TERMINATION
You can stop using Bones at any time. For a subscription, cancelling through the link in your Paddle receipt (or by emailing us) stops future charges; your licence keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, then stops.
Your licence also ends automatically if the purchase behind it is refunded
or charged back.
We may suspend or end a licence without refund if it is being used in breach of these terms — for example, shared beyond its three-browser limit,
or used to try to circumvent the licensing. Where the breach is minor and fixable, we will contact you first.
- YOUR CONTENT
The posts you create with Bones are yours. Bones writes ordinary HTML straight into your own Shopify editor; we never see, store or transmit your article content (see our Privacy Policy for the detail). You are responsible for what you publish and for making sure you have the rights to any text, images, video or products you include. Because Bones’ output is plain content in your own store, it stays intact if you later stop using Bones or your licence ends.
- THINGS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL
Bones works alongside services we do not run — Shopify, your store’s theme, Paddle, and any host you load images or video from. Bones builds structure
and lets your theme do the styling, but we cannot guarantee how every theme or future Shopify change will display a given post, and we are not responsible for those third-party services, their availability, or their terms.
- WARRANTY DISCLAIMER
Bones is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that Bones will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every theme, plan or future version of Shopify. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or relating to Bones or these terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for your licence in the twelve months before the claim arose. We will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or loss of or damage to data. Again, this does not affect consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.
- CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms as the product or the law changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant and
affects a current subscription, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Bones after a change means you accept the updated terms.
- GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of The United Kingdom, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of that place. This does not
remove the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.
