I have been looking everywhere for this info, but the Google help pages take me to setting up instead of reviewing.

When setting up ads, I have set my metrics based on target ROAS. However, when reviewing the performance charts and tables within Ads (and Merchant Center), only costs/coversion and costs/click are presented.
Given that an order value can vary from $15 to $1,000 the cost/coversion isn't helpful. Some show $30 which is great for a thousand dollar order but disaster for a small order.

Nowhere can I find a ROAS result.

Along those lines, I am also looking for a performance report that shows organic vs paid results. How much of sales come from organic search vs clicking on a Google ad or a paid Shopping Ad.

Any help with either of these please? I am currently spending a lot on ads AND working hard on SEO, so I need to know what's working and what's not.

I opened my store almost 18 months ago. Other than an initial build, I did nothing with it. I had no traffic or sales but that was intentional as I had an Etsy store that I was still learning. I recently (December) changed my Shopify store theme, created a business Facebook and Instagram page, and started working on SEO. I am terrified to drive any traffic to the store (for some crazy reason, I had a random sale) because I don't think the site is ready for the public. I have a fear of exposing a less-than-professional looking site but I don't want t just sit on it for another wasted year.

Can I please get some constructive feedback? I want to make this site great and would love to know (good and bad) if I am on the right track!

Thanks very much!

Business manager, business suite, commerce manager, ad center, ad manager... and more. Not to mention all the old pixels and accounts from back in the day before all this stuff. Oh and what works with FB doesn't work in IG etc etc

Anyhow. It seems I started ads in one of those centers, edited in another, and find myself in a loop as I try to tweak them. One tells me to do x but the other says x is wrong.

Do you have or know of an idiots guide? Or even better, just to know which "center" or "manager" I should just start with and stick with would be helpful? I need something without jargon and so on.

If anything, all you will need to do is add the Container ID.

The process for adding will also be slightly different if you are setting up Google & Youtube Sales Channels.

Not going to list our directions on this one as Google has written some decent and easy to follow directions. The entire process is also really intuitive to complete.

If you do not have never setup Google Analytics before, the first few minutes of the video is still valid information. Everything after 2:30 seconds is out dated (which is like 1 step from her point of view). You will instead see a Yellow Box that has information and a button in it. Follow those prompts and you will be set up in no time.

Sometime prior to August 2022, Google changed how things on their end work when it comes to verification. Google's documentation has been kind of slow on rolling out this information, but it is probably somewhere now.

The reason I bring this up, the change for verification has now impacted how Google Search Console is setup. You can no longer use the HTML code which is what is displayed in the video. You now how to use TXT or CNAME records which is a totally different process.

In case anyone comes here to look for a "What do I do now?", here are some steps that are a little more straight forward, though I don't have a video for it.

1. When you reach the Domain Verification Screen, enter in your website on the left side. If you have URL Prefixes, these directions aren't going to work for you.
2. Click Next.
3. At the top of the box, you have two options in a drop down. It defaults to "TXT" which is recommended, but within it is also "CNAME". While TXT is recommended, we are going to select CNAME instead.
4. Before you copy the code, go to where you purchased your Domain from. This could be GoDaddy, Shopify, or another provider.
5. Access your DNS records. If you aren't sure how to do this, check the Help Center of your provider. If you've set up Email in the past, you might remember to location from that. For Shopify, you would go Settings > Domains > click on your Domain > Domain Settings > Edit DNS Settings.
6. On your screen, you should have the option for entering or creating a Custom Record. Select this and then select CNAME.
7. Copy the first value from Google Search Console and add it to the first box. Copy the second and add it to the second box. (If you didn't change to CNAME and are still seeing TXT on Google Search Console, that's fine, you can change to CNAME now and no one will no the difference.)
8. Click "Confirm" on the DNS records.
9. Go back to Google Search Console and click "Verify".

If all goes as planned, you should receive a green confirmation box confirming that the record has been setup.
If you got the red box, check back in 24 hours (or sooner, up to you). If you are still having an error after 24 hours, you might have an issue somewhere.

These directions were provided for CNAME instead of TXT because there is information missing from the TXT process. In order to understand what is missing and how to fix it, you need to have a certain level of familiarity with DNS records, which most of the people taking this course will not have (don't worry, there are IT Professionals that have no idea what would be needed either).

Enjoy!

Use high-quality images and engaging captions.

Essential Advice:

Consistency is Key: Regular posting is crucial for maintaining visibility and engagement. Aim to post at least once a day.

Quality Over Quantity: It's better to have one well-crafted post than several low-quality ones. Invest time in creating high-quality images and well-written captions.

Engage with Your Audience: Social media is not just about broadcasting; it's about conversation. Respond to comments, ask questions, and show appreciation for your followers.

Use Relevant Hashtags: Hashtags can help your posts reach a wider audience. Research and use relevant hashtags for your industry and products.

Promote User-Generated Content: Encourage your customers to share photos of your products and feature them on your social media. This not only provides you with free content but also builds community and trust.

What Not to Do:

Don't Spam: While regular posting is important, avoid spamming your followers with too many posts in a short period. This can lead to unfollows.

Don't Ignore Negative Comments: If you receive a negative comment or complaint, don't ignore it. Respond professionally and try to resolve the issue.

Don't Be Too Promotional: While it's important to promote your products, your social media should not be purely promotional. Share valuable content, tips, and engage with your followers.

Don't Ignore Analytics: Most social media platforms provide analytics. Use these to understand what type of content performs best and when your followers are most active.

Don't Forget to Cross-Promote: If you have multiple social media platforms, cross-promote your content. For example, share your Instagram posts on your Facebook page and vice versa.

Remember, social media marketing is a long-term strategy. It may take time to see significant results, but with consistency and quality, it can be a powerful tool for increasing exposure and sales for your Shopify store.
